A Note From Father Manny....
The end message and words of Jesus in the gospel this weekend is the challenge to become perfect. "Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Mt. 5:48).
God created man with all his imperfections and weakness. We share in this human nature. God made it so, so that we have something to work on in our Christian faith.
This week, God challenges us to be holy, peaceful, and loving. I pray that as you reflect on today's readings, you will heed the call of Jesus to love your enemies and do good to those who hate you, (Mt. 5:44). We all struggle with this command. Alexander Pope in his poem and I quote: "To err is human, to forgive is divine", which means it's beyond
I pray that God may touch our hearts in this struggle. It may be impossible for some but God will never give us a command that we cannot handle, because with Him in our efforts to become perfect is possible.
May St. Francis help us in our very effort to become instruments of God's love, care, peace and forgiveness as expressed in his prayer.
